This Lent, we invite you to journey together through John’s Gospel as part of a Big Church Read, using David Ford’s Meeting God in John as our guide. Written with clarity and theological depth, the book opens up the Fourth Gospel for readers at every stage, from those new to John to those returning with long familiarity.

To support the shared journey through Lent, we have created five short videos to accompany Part 1 of the book. This section is shaped specifically for the Lenten season, exploring John’s big themes of meaning, identity, desire, home, and glory, and helping readers meet God through the person of Jesus as they read and reflect together.

The book then carries the journey forward beyond Lent itself. It moves into the Gospel’s account of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday, before opening out into the ongoing life of faith in the world today. In this way, the videos provide a focused companion for Lent, while the book continues beyond Easter as a resource for prayer, study, and discipleship rooted in John’s Gospel.
