At the Big Church Read we want to encourage Christians around the country to read through a good Christian book together in a shared experience. We believe it’s a key part of our formation and discipleship as Christians.
We’re delighted to have you on board!
When does it begin?
The first video goes live online on
Monday 21 September 2020, 7.00 p.m.
Where?
Once you and your group each have your copies of the book, it’s completely free to take part.
This blog post will help get you ready to begin, and we’ll keep in touch a few times over the next few days so you can really make the most of it – and remember that we’re always here if you need any advice or have any questions.
So what happens next?
The first thing is to decide who you’re going to do the Big Church Read with. You could be doing The Big Church Read as a whole church, with your home group, or with a group of friends.
Once you have your group together, make sure everybody has a copy of the book.
You can pick one up from your local Christian bookshop or by clicking the button below:

Share the above link with the other members of your group so they can each order their own copy, or if you’re a church group buying in bulk then be in touch with us directly to discuss options.
And then you’re all set!
John Mark Comer will release the first teaching video on Monday 21 September at 7.00 p.m. live on our website: www.thebigchurchread.co.uk/watch and every Monday night at the same time for the following five weeks. But you can start at any time you like after that date, as the videos will remain online for you to view whenever suits your group.
What do the videos cover?
Each video introduces a theme for you to think about as you read through the relevant section of the book. Look out for an email from us in the next few days with a reading plan that shows which section of the book we’re focusing on each time, along with some specially written starter questions to help you dig deeper into the theme.
Everything you need will be provided to help you run The Big Church Read.
Arrange a time to meet
So you’ve got your group together, everyone has a copy of the book and you’ve got your reading plan and discussion questions. Now you just need a time to meet.
You can either ask your group to read the relevant section of the book before John Mark’s video, or afterwards – it’s up to you, and the whole programme is set up so you can do it as and when it suits you and your group best.
The videos are there to help you enter into the topic and as a springboard for discussion. All you need to do is find a time to meet each week – either in person or online – and talk about what you’ve read.
Let others know you’re taking part
The more people signed up to take part in The Big Church Read, the better the experience will be for us all. To get more people invovled we’d be really grateful if you could share something on your social media channels. We’ve made it really easy for you as we have various image all designed to perfectly fit Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
